In Memoriam

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Dr. Bobbi Voermans. Dr. Bobbi passed away unexpectedly on July 9th, leaving a huge hole in our hearts and communities. She was a member of the Park City Board of Directors since 2014, and we will greatly miss her and her contagious beautiful personality. She touched many of our lives, and words cannot thank her enough for all she has done for her service to our credit union and communities she worked and volunteered for. Her presence will live on in many things we do, but especially through our Annual Sunshine on the Streets, as she was a founder for this event. And, as Dr. Bobbi would say, always remember to ‘Have your best day!’ Rest in Peace.

Gratitude and Celebration This Holiday
 Valued members like you are the reason we exist, and we’re honored to serve you every day. We thank you for the outpouring of kindness and generosity you have shown us –  your credit union – in what has certainly been a challenging year.

A key component to our mission is to help members fulfill their dreams. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” In 2020, the dream remain, but the path is new. 

As I reflect on 2020, it was a year where we looked for solutions to help our members and to fulfill our mission.  In 2020, approximately 500 members took advantage of Skip-a-Pay to help provide payment relief. We made significant advances with our e-services, particularly mobile services, and temporarily re-opened the Merrill West Drive Up to better serve you. What 2020 has taught us is that we are all connected and the importance of compassion to find new and innovative solutions to continue to meet the needs of our member/owners.  

As business owners were faced with tough decisions and financial strain, we were able to offer a relief loan by way of the Paycheck Protection Program. We also brought back Shop Local in a new format (2.0) to highlight and support our local economy. It was incredibly heartwarming to see our communities come together to strengthen, rebuild and support local businesses in the Northwoods.

The other piece to our mission is serving our communities. We’ve donated more than $50,000 to area nonprofits and dispersed $15,000 in technology grant funds to help our local school districts teachers and students. In a time when learning and adapting with new financial strategies are essential, Park City’s Northwoods Financial Summit – a community event to help people reimagine and reshape what’s possible with their money – was more relevant than ever.  

On behalf of everyone at Park City, we appreciate your membership and are thankful that you have allowed us the opportunity to serve your financial needs. We’ve always remained opened… open for you. We are incredibly thankful for the trust you have given to us and are proud to be your financial partners. We wish you a very happy and safe holiday season, and we look forward to serving you and your family in the new year!

Park City Credit Union recently gave away more than 100 turkey dinners to families in need, a Thanksgiving tradition that began in 2011. Each year the community’s members nominate their neighbors, friends or others for some extra holiday cheer.

Park City is sharing the care!

We love our members and we love our community, so Park City has been busy the past few months sharing some positivity by giving back.

Park City’s teams delivered fruit, cookies and Hershey’s bars to the staff at the Merrill Post Office, donated some fuzzy slippers and puzzle books to the residents at Milestone Assisted Living Home and donated enough money to cover the costs of all bedrooms in the MAC Home for one night.

We also covered the costs for one of our members who made more than 200 masks, which were sent to a naval base in Washington where another Park City member is stationed.

Park City donates $20,000 to area non-profits

Four Northwoods food pantries and a waterfront trail are the benefactors of $20,000 in donations made by Park City Credit Union. The Community Food Pantry of Merrill, Lakeland Pantry, Rhinelander Area Food Pantry, Tomahawk United Methodist Church Food Pantry and River Bend Trail in Merrill each received $4,000.

Park City donates $2,000 to local food pantries

There are longer lines at food pantries across the country as those in need seek help during the pandemic. Whether it is the result of being out of work due to the COVID-19 situation, or scaling up demand due to families that have been affected by school closures, there is greater demand at local pantries in the Northwoods.

That’s why Park City Credit Union donated $500 to four local food pantries: Community Food Pantry of Merrill, Lakeland Pantry, Rhinelander Area Food Pantry and Tomahawk United Methodist Church Food Pantry. It’s one of several ways, including relief loan options, the community credit union is helping people in the region.

Two Park City members win $100 in savings contest

During these challenging times, it pays to have an emergency fund. For two Park City members, Adam C. and Kurt S., not only did their money stretch in a savings account, they were winners of the Saver’s Sweepstakes® statewide drawing.

These members are participants in special deposit accounts that pay them dividends while automatically entering them in monthly, quarterly and annual cash prize drawings. Each won $100 in the recent monthly drawing.

Members earn entries into the sweepstakes for every $25 saved each month. They can receive up to six entries monthly. These entries are applied to $100 monthly drawings, $1,000 quarterly drawings and a $5,000 yearly grand prize drawing.

Park City joins the Teddy Bear hunt

Families across the Northwoods are getting into the spirit of the teddy bear and heart hunt. A scavenger hunt suited for social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, people are putting stuffed animals and hearts – from the tiniest to the massive – inside windows for people to find on walks or drives around area neighborhoods.

Residents aren’t the only ones participating in the movement. Park City has decorated its branches in Merrill, Rhinelander, Minocqua and Tomahawk with hearts and bears, too.

Stimulus Checks for Taxpayers Stimulus checks will be based on information from your most recent tax filings. To ensure the IRS has your most current information, file your 2019 tax return now. And if you are getting a refund, make sure you choose direct deposit—you’ll get your refund faster, and the IRS will have the info it needs to direct deposit a stimulus check.

6 Reasons Your Money is Safe at Park City

Along with the mad dash to buy all the toilet paper stores can stock, some members have asked about the need to withdraw cash from the credit union. The fact is, the need for cash withdrawals during this crisis has no basis in fact. Annual Meeting Postponed

Due to the uncertainty created by COVID-19, Park City is postponing its Annual Meeting scheduled for April 29. Many jurisdictions have been imposing restrictions on public gatherings, which make it impossible to hold the annual meeting as planned. A new date is to be determined with our members’ best interests and health in mind.

Park City donates $25,000 to Hatchet Pride Project

Thanks to sponsors like Park City Credit Union, the privately funded Hatchet Pride Project surpassed $2 million in donations this month. As one of seven Platinum Sponsors, Park City presented a check for $25,000 to enhance the athletic facilities for the Tomahawk School District.

“Athletics teaches important life lessons such as teamwork, resilience, courage and hard work,” said Park City CEO Val Mindak. “This plan calls for some state-of-the-art improvements to the facilities in Tomahawk and we are proud to be a part of the Hatchet team.”

Anticipated facility enhancement includes adding synthetic turf to existing football field space, completing a new eight-lane track with nine sprint lanes, improving field event areas and making the bleachers and press box compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This includes a new entryway, concession and pavilion area.
Jon Long from the Hatchet Pride Project said, “The support from local businesses and community organizations has been incredible.” The organization continues to raise tax-deductible donations at its website, HatchetPrideProject.com. Donations of $500 or more will be recognized on a donor wall.

Park City’s Sue Kunkel Awarded Highest Award in Rotary

The Merrill Rotarians awarded Loan Processor Sue Kunkel the Paul Harris Award. It is given to a Rotarian or a member of the community who has made an outstanding contribution to the community.

Kunkel is an active volunteer with the Merrill Chamber of Commerce, O’Tannenbaum Tour and 4H. She has served on the Merrill Transit Commission, the Lincoln County Fair Board of Directors, and has served as Chamber Ambassador since 1983. A former Merrill City Councilwoman, she served on the Health and Safety committee, the Parks and Rec Commission, the Historic Preservation Committee, the Housing Authority, the Board of Review and the Board of Public Works.

The Paul Harris recipient goes above and beyond in serving the local community through promoting change and understanding. Through the nomination, Kunkel is described as “very giving who volunteers for every activity possible in the city, and is a true champion of Merrill.”
Kunkel has been a long-serving employee of Park City Credit Union.

“If someone needs the drive or motivation to succeed, introduce him or her to Sue,” said Park City CEO Val Mindak. “She has a knack for helping others achieve their full potential in business as well as their personal life.”

More Than $3,800 for Children’s Miracle Network

Park City would like to thank all those who helped make a difference in the lives of sick and injured children in the Northwoods. Our annual Share-a-Bear fundraiser in February raised thousands of dollars for the Children’s Miracle Network in addition to a large donation of stuffed animals. Thank you for making a difference!

Aktie A Bär erhöht mehr als 5.000

Die Park City Credit Union sammelte 5.810 Dollar für das Children's Miracle Network, zusätzlich zu einer großen Spende von Plüschtieren. Dies ist das neunte Jahr der Spendenaktion der Kreditgenossenschaft Share-A-Bear, die das Leben der kranken und verletzten Kinder in der Region Northwoods verbessert.
