2/11/2013 — The new credit card surcharge does not affect your Park City Credit Union Visa® debit card.
As you have may have seen in recent news reports retailers are now allowed to charge you a surcharge every time you use your credit card to make a purchase. This took effect as of January 27th, 2013. This only affects credit cards and will not impact your debit card purchases. You can continue to choose the "credit option" at the checkout and the merchant cannot charge you a fee. This may impact purchases made with your Park City Credit Union VISA® credit card. A retailer may charge between 1.5% and 4% of the purchase at checkout. The fee is meant to help the merchant cover the cost of credit card processing. The merchant is required to post a notice if they intend to charge a surcharge.
